Patrick Mutombo Joins BYU Coaching Staff | BYU Cougars Basketball News

BYU just landed a coaching powerhouse: Patrick Mutombo, a seasoned NBA and G-League veteran with deep ties to Kevin Young. Once a player from Kinshasa who bounced between Belgium and Denver, Mutombo now brings over a decade of elite coaching experience — including stints with the Raptors’ championship run and working alongside legends like Nick Nurse and Monty Williams. His connection to Young, forged during their time together in Phoenix, sealed the deal. This move not only fills the void left by Will Voigt but also injects global perspective and top-tier recruiting firepower into BYU’s program.
