Patriots Preseason Finale: Eight Takeaways from the Browns Loss

The New England Patriots concluded their 2026 preseason with a 37-13 defeat against the Cleveland Browns, a game characterized by the strategic absence of all starting players. Head coach Mike Vrabel opted to protect his primary roster from injury, relying instead on joint practices to prepare for the upcoming regular season. While the backup defense struggled to contain Cleveland’s scoring drives, the offense saw a highlight with a 45-yard touchdown from Tommy DeVito to Kyle Williams. The exhibition also featured special teams successes, including reliable performances from punter Matt Haack and kicker Andy Borregales. Following this final tune-up, the organization now faces the task of reducing its roster to the mandatory 53-man limit.
