It was released as the album’s official first single in 1983, spending four weeks at #1 on the US R&B chart during January and February 1984; it reached #46 on the Billboard Hot 100 making her first crossover pop hit.Patti was already singing before I was born. She became the Bluebelles in 1961, but her success as a solo artist started in 1983 when she released her hit album, I’m in Love Again. That’s when I began to really learn about Patti, but it also made me listen to the Bluebelles. I really like their music. The music today can’t beat their music.You had to know how to sing in those days in order to be a singer. Patti and the group were in the days of the Apollo Theater. That’s where they earned national fame.1 and 2 and 3 and 4! Ain’t comin’ back no more! No wonder Patti LaBelle could sing so well. She had a lot of experience moving into the 80’s where there was a new sound. Patti had so much expression with her singing. She knew how to do her voice, and no one has a voice like hers.
