Patti Smith

<3 This week on magic Portals, we hear from the legendary rock and roll singer Patti Smith. Patricia Lee Smith (born December 30, 1946) is an American singer-songwriter, poet, and artist who became an influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album “Horses”. Patti Smith was signed by Clive Davis of Arista Records, and in 1975 recorded their first album, Horses, produced by John Cale. The album is a pure reflection of rock and roll incorporating spoken poetry. The album begins with a cover of Van Morrison’s iconic “Gloria” , and Smith’s opening words: “Jesus died for somebody’s sins but not mine” (an excerpt from “Oath”, one of her early poems). The album cover photograph by Robert Mapplethorpe has become one of rock’s classic images. http://joy.org.au/magicportals/wp-content/uploads/sites/350/2017/10/Episode-34.mp3 Ep 34 00:01:09 – Patti Smith – Gloria 00:08:07 – Patti Smith – Redondo Beach 00:14:10 – Patti Smith – Birdland 00:25:07 – Patti Smith – Free Money 00:31:58 – Patti Smith – Kimberly 00:36:24 – Patti Smith – Break It Up 00:36:23 – Patti Smith – Patti Smith-“Land: Horse/Land of a Thousand Dances/La Mer (De) 00:40:30 – Patti Smith – Elegie 00:55:10 – Patti Smith – Frederick 00:58:13 – Patti Smith – Fire Of Unknown Origin Transitional Audio Clips Short Film – Chelsea Hotel 1970 – YouTube Patti Smith – Interview Stockholm October 1976 – YouTube Tavis Smiley – Guest Patti Smith – YouTube The post Patti Smith appeared first on Magic Portals.
