The main guest was David Adelman, better known as The People’s Lawyer, who joined me after a bout of technical gremlins and gave a fascinating account of how he moved from law into education, public speaking and rights-based work. We talked about his book School - No Place for Children, the failures of modern schooling, the Prussian roots of compliance culture, the misuse of language in legal settings, and why he believes people need to understand the roles and assumptions the system quietly persuades them to accept.In the final stretch, Etta Volk joined us from Chicago for a transatlantic catch-up on the state of the media, political theatre, social pressure, migration and the mood among ordinary people in both the UK and the US. We also got into the collapse of public trust, generational shifts, and whether younger people may end up dismantling broken institutions simply by refusing to submit to them.
