Paul Lennon

Paul is a former premier of Tasmania and senior union leader whose career spans government, corporate leadership, economic and social reform. Elected to the Tasmanian Parliament in 1990. Paul served as Opposition Whip, deputy Opposition Leader, deputy Premier.Treasurer and ultimately Premier from 2004 to 2008, he held key ministerial portfolios including infrastructure, energy, and resources, and economic development. During this period, Tasmania underwent significant economic transformation. Major infrastructure projects included the purchase of Spirit of Tasmania one and two, construction of the Basslink high voltage cable, the Duke Energy Gas Pipeline, and development of the Wall, north Wind Farm.He also facilitated major investments in mining, forestry processing, renewable energy, tourism infrastructure, and digital mineral exploration systems. Under Paul's leadership, Tasmania recorded strong economic growth, creating 37,000 jobs, reducing unemployment from nearly 11% to 4%, eliminating $1.7 billion in net debt, delivering consecutive budget surpluses, lowering taxation severity, and reversing population decline.Paul also championed significant social reforms, including the nation leading Safe at Home family violence program, as well as helping Tasmania to become the only Australian jurisdiction to formally resolve stolen generations compensation claims. He's now the founder and CEO of the Level A public education campaign championing economic development.
