After graduating from Clongowes in 1977 Paul attended RTC Galway where he studied Computer Information Systems, In late 1979 Paul joined Bank of Ireland midland region,While he enjoyed certain aspect of the job it was unfulfilling and he took a leap of faith in 1985 by emigrating to the United States.He settled in Chicago, where he got a job as a runner on the Chicago Board of Trade floor.Within 6 months he was trading 30 year U.S.Treasury Bonds on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade for Rosenthal & Co.Les Rosenthal,the owner of the firm, was Chairman of the CBOT. In 1987 Paul went to Taipei,Taiwan as COO of the company for 7 years and established what is today,Taiwan’s premiere financial futures firm.While in Taiwan he set up Singapore,Hong Kong and London trading desks in addition to creating a spot Foreign Exchange trading operation. In 1994, Paul was recruited back to Chicago to join an investment bank,The Chicago Corporation, where he was senior FX trader on the Asian desk.When the company was acquired by ABN Amro,Rosenthal Collins Group approached Paul to set up the company’s first U.S, based FX desk.FX market making exposure to some of the world’s top traders whetted Paul’s appetite for the asset management side of the business and in 2007 he was appointed MD of a large Chicago firm with a brief to grow the business. Paul created the dominant base aggregation and distribution model for managed futures trading which is still employed by many firms to this day. In recent years Paul has become increasingly involved in the hedge fund platform industry,partnering with European and Asian firms on both the manager sourcing side and the distribution side of the business. Paul lives in Naperville,IL and is married to Amy,they have 3 adult boys all employed in the tech industry.
