Paul Osborne: CARJAM CEO on Waka Kotahi wanting to charge them 19c per search on their website
from Best of Business · host Newstalk ZB
There are fears a plan to charge for stolen vehicle records will make one car ownership record provider's business unaffordable. Waka Kotahi plans to charge 19 cents for each query for stolen vehicle records from next month, while the Police service will remain free. CARJAM argue while they do charge for some information, this'll cost them around $1.5 million per month. CEO Paul Osborne told Mike Hosking they used to get a lot more data from Waka Kotahi for free. He says in 2011 they began charging for most information and the accurate stolen state of a vehicle is their last remaining free service.
