In 2007, watching Croatia block England’s path to EURO 2008, Bristol City fan Paul and his friend Matthew Conrad decided to coach the national team of Pohnpei, a nation in Micronesia with 34,000 people and no football infrastructure. Paul published Up Pohnpei, his chronicle of his time there, in 2012. Since then he has run a football team in Mongolia, been the Tournament Director of the 2018 CONIFA World Football Cup, launched the Kitmas project with his brother Mark and found the time to have two children. You may have seen Paul recently in FourFourTwo magazine, whose Back of the Net online column he used to write.
