One of the arguments often used to attack the truthfulness of the Bible is the concept of ‘slavery’. Slavery was a common practice during the time of Christ and his apostles and originated as a way of paying off a dept. At the time of Paul writing his prison epistle ‘Philemon’, the gospel had already begun to transform society at all levels, including slaves. One particular slave Onesimus had run away from his owner to join Paul, join Dr Corbett as he looks at Paul’s response in his prison written epistle, Philemon.
