Pause in the Action

from Flipping Tables · host Julie Sexton

In episode 19, we seized the pause in the action to talk about prayer. We pulled some content from The Pause app. This tool and John's book, Resilient have become a favorite resource for us. I wanted us to have a conversation to empower us all to flip the religion out of our prayer time. I'm sure religion has tried to hijack your prayer time a few times.  Prayer is a most essential piece to our spiritual formation. Through Christ we've been reconnected to our Father. We have access to His presence. We pray to the Father through the Spirit in the name of Jesus. Being connected to the Holy is sacred. It's not a chore. It's not meant to be a burden. There's no wrong way to pray. Not praying is a problem. We want you to develop skills that will enhance your prayer time.  This teaching and conversation is incomplete, but it's a good place for us to start. In the episode I say at one point I rebelled against the early morning prayer. This is in no way meant to say I think prayer first thing in the morning is not the best time to pray. I want you to know the worst option is not praying at all. There have been seasons praying first thing in the morning wasn't my best time. I was groggy and distracted. I was going through religious motions. Live in freedom from religion friends. Talk to your Dad. But our Dad does expect us to grow up in spiritual disciplines. Prayer isn't a religious task. Prayer is a blood bought privilege to have a conversation with God Most High. You have access to the highest authority over all things. Why would we want to skip this gift?   The Pause App Resilient: Restoring Your Weary Soul In These Turbulent Times by John Eldredge Stratus earth Jamie Ivy Walk in June
