Pay Attention to Those Who Hear

This Sunday we'll look at 2 Timothy 2, examining our response to people around us. Paul sets up two examples; one that relies on God and rightly handles the word of truth and the other that is marked by quarreling, irreverent babble and ungodliness. It's not hard to see how the second example runs rampant in our culture and easily seeps into the church. Just open any social media platform and read the comments. It's a wasteland of dissension, mean-spirited discussion and outright sin. In the midst of these challenges, God's Word gives us hope. It leads us to reject any approach that swerves from truth and enables us to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. It guards against false teaching and helps us to accomplish God's mission, by the power of the Spirit that works within us.
