Peace and Love

from Wet Present Records Hosted by John Kline

“Peace and Love” began as a simple song about the things that make life worth living: kindness, sunlight, movement, memory, faith, and the people we love. My mother was part of this song’s history from its earliest life, encouraging it and participating in the music-therapy experiment from which it developed. She heard and approved the finished work before her death on July 31, 2026. I hear the song differently now. What once felt like a hopeful meditation on everyday goodness has become inseparable from grief and memory. Lines that seemed uncomplicated when I wrote them now carry the weight of losing both of my parents within nine days of one another. The song has not changed, but I have. I still believe what it says. Perhaps I need to believe it more now than I did when I recorded it: that amid the inevitable highs and lows of being alive, there is still value in choosing peace, choosing love, remembering what matters, and continuing forward. This recording is dedicated to my mother, Judith Ann Kline, with love and gratitude.
