One is built on love and trust, the other on pride and power.In Esther 2:10–11 (NLT):“Esther had not told anyone of her nationality and family background, because Mordecai had directed her not to do so. Every day Mordecai would take a walk near the courtyard of the harem to find out about Esther and what was happening to her.”And in Esther 1:12 (NLT):“But when they conveyed the king’s order to Queen Vashti, she refused to come. This made the king furious, and he burned with anger.”Esther trusted Mordecai’s guidance because their relationship was grounded in love and mutual respect. But King Xerxes and Vashti’s relationship lacked that same foundation—and it led to conflict and division.When we honor one another, listen with humility, and act in love, peace follows.
