PECO union workers officially ratify a new contract
from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand
IBEW Local 614 has ratified the deal with a near-unanimous vote It includes bigger pension plans, full retirement medical coverage, and wage increases. These were the major priorities for the workers when they went on a three-day strike earlier this month. In a statement, the union's president calls this "an investment in the skill and expertise of the people who keep the lights on and the gas flowing." And he's advising PECO not to raise customers' bills, citing the company's large profit margins. The contract is now in effect and lasts nearly 5 years. (photo credit: Rosie Leonard/KYW Newsradio)
