'Peeling back the Layers'

from RawFaithTalk · host Chimdi Zoe

What do you do when all you know and believe about God is boldly questioned by your circumstance? What do you say when storms of life dispute the character of God as you know it, and expects you to defend it even in the midst of your pain? What do you do when you're struggling to trust God and what He has said in His word? In the grand scheme of things, trauma is a major hindrance to us fully trusting God. Because of this, God has to peel back the layers we shield our pain and hurt and shame and fear under, so that our wounds can heal, and not merely be out of sight. Perhaps the most difficult thing to say in a time like this is, "God, I trust You even though I don't understand what's going on". Because the peeling hurts, but it's all for the greater good. Unless a seed falls to the grounds and dies, it cannot sprout into a blossoming and fruitful plant. If this looks like you, Holy Spirit is here for you. We hope this episode points you to Jesus, with whom you can find rest for your soul. We hope it offers you the consolation that you're not alone, not in this experience that is common to all Christians, and certainly not with God, because He'll never leave nor forsake us.
