from Wilmington News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Pender County Schools wrapped up their massive Summer Meals program, distributing over 184,000 meals to kids and families — with a final pickup of 14,574 meals. Running at six locations including Atkinson Town Hall and C.F. Pope Elementary, the initiative gave families a full week’s worth of breakfast and lunch to keep kids fed during school breaks. PET Dairy played a key role by donating two refrigerated trucks to keep food fresh at Maple Hill and Atkinson sites. Officials praised families, community partners, and especially PET Dairy, Mr. Dean Holmes, and the Goldsboro branch for their vital support — proving that hunger doesn’t take a break when school does.
