Pennsylvania lawmakers are a step closer to banning cell phones in schools. The State Senate has approved a bell to bell ban on phones...and now it's with the State House Education Committee. Governor Shapiro this week asked lawmakers to send him a bill banning phones in schools so he can sign it into law. Allegheny County Republican Devlin Robinson spearheaded the legislation celebrated. He spoke at a Wednesday news conference in Harrisburg. The Pittsburgh Public Schools recently enacted a district wide ban and Congressman Chris Deluzio conducted a study last summer, where only 23 percent of the schools in his district had a smartphone ban.
