Pentagon Happy Hour

from A Republic, If You Can Keep It

On our agenda this week… Another Trump cabinet nominee is barely hanging on, with alleged sexual offender and alleged alcoholic Pete Hegseth on the ropes for Defense Secretary – ironically, on the 91st anniversary of the repeal of prohibition. Trump reportedly is talking to Meatball Ron De-Sanctimonious as his backup choice for DOD … possibly in a deal where the Florida Governor first names Lara Trump to fill out the term of Senator Marco Rubio. More criminals and Fox News personalities have been named to the Trump Parade of Cabinet Clowns. The latest: onetime Fox Business reporter and ex-con Peter Navarro, and Fox talking head Monica Crowley. In case you missed, there’s another Trump grift: the official Trump Golf Video Game, just $9.99 or $99 for the super deluxe autographed digital game. It never ends. State House Speaker Joe Tate takes the first step to run for Detroit Mayor. But the huge story this week: Detroit’s highly successful Mayor, Mike Duggan, is running for Governor … as an independent. No independent has ever won statewide partisan office in our state’s history. Can Duggan be the first? Joining us is Michigan two-term Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. She literally wrote the book on the job: “State Secretaries of State (Election Law, Politics, and Theory)”. She has been a champion for election and ethics reforms during his 6 years on the job. Previously she was the dean Wayne State University’s Law School. At the time she was the youngest woman in U.S. history to lead a top-100 law school. She’s widely considered a first-tier possible candidate to succeed Gretchen Whitmer as Governor. Welcome bacl to the podcast Jocelyn. =========================== This episode is sponsored in part by EPIC ▪ MRA, a full service survey research firm with expertise in • Public Opinion Surveys • Market Research Studies • Live Telephone Surveys • On-Line and Automated Surveys • Focus Group Research • Bond Proposals – Millage Campaigns • Political Campaigns & Consulting • Ballot Proposals – Issue Advocacy Research • Community – Media Relations • Issue – Image Management • Database Development & List Management Anne Telnaes – Washington Post
