Pep Lijnders special: The man behind Jurgen Klopp | Inside story on Zeljko Buvac’s successor’s rise at Anfield

Jurgen Klopp often praises his backroom team and indeed took the first opportunity to when he was named the LMA Manager of the Year for 2019/20. One man in particular has seen his reputation grow exponentially: assistant manager Pep Lijnders. Join Matt Addison as he explores Lijnders' role at Liverpool, and what has led to him becoming such a central figure at Melwood via FC Porto and NEC Nijmegen. Muslu Nalbantoglu, a former Ajax youth player, who worked as a coach at NEC, gives his views, as does Sander Janssen from the NEC fan group, Forza NEC. We also take a look at when Lijnders could succeed Klopp at Anfield as Portuguese analytic expert Scott Martin talks about how he moved to Porto at a young age to revamp their youth set-up, while Analysing Anfield's Josh Williams talks about how a Lijnders Liverpool could look should he ever take on the top job.
