Peptides: Episode 5: Reading the Label, and Our Bottom Line

from Keys® Natural Skin Solutions · host Bob Root

Peptides: Episode 5: Reading the Label, and Our Bottom LineWelcome back to Peptides, Decoded, our final episode in this series. Today, we're putting everything together into a short, practical checklist, and sharing where we land on peptides here at Keys.First, look for named peptides, not vague claims. Something like Copper Tripeptide-1 or Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 on an ingredient list is a real, checkable claim. “Advanced peptide technology” with nothing named underneath it is marketing language, not information.Second, check where the peptide sits on the ingredient list. Ingredients are listed from highest to lowest concentration. A peptide buried near the very bottom of a long list is likely present in a token, ineffective amount.Third, be skeptical of dramatic claims over days instead of weeks. Real peptide research plays out over eight to twelve weeks of consistent use. Overnight transformation claims are overselling the science, full stop.Fourth, and this one matters for your safety: never purchase peptides marketed for injection, microneedling, or research use. Those products fall completely outside cosmetic safety regulation and have been the subject of increasing enforcement action. A topical serum is an entirely different, and far safer, category. And fifth, remember that natural and synthetic peptides aren't automatically better or worse than each other. What actually matters is whether that specific peptide, at that specific concentration, in that specific formula, has real evidence behind it and makes sense for your skin.So here's our bottom line at Keys. Peptides aren't a gimmick, and they're not magic, either. They're one more tool, grounded in real biology, that can genuinely support firmer, calmer, more resilient skin, when the right peptide is used at a meaningful concentration in a well-built formula. Some of the most exciting peptide science right now, copper peptides, signal peptides like Matrixyl, and the natural peptides already sitting in ingredients like oats, rice, and soy, gives us more ways than ever to support skin the way it already knows how to repair itself. Our approach has always been the same. Use ingredients we can explain honestly. Back our claims with real evidence instead of trends. And never ask you to take our word for something we can't show you plainly. Peptides fit that philosophy well, as long as we're honest about which ones actually earn their place on the label. Thanks for listening to this series. We'll see you next time on the Keys podcast.
