Dr. Jeff Buske is sharing his daily takeaway, which is that ‘perception is projection is reality’. He had an opportunity to put those words of wisdom into action recently when a patient had a poor experience. The patient had to see a different provider as Dr. Buske was in surgery. The patient didn’t feel like they received the same level of care that they normally do. Dr. Buske had to get the patient's perception, the other doctor's perception, and then he had to look at his own perception. We have to keep in mind that everyone's perception is different and is shaped by our experiences. Communicating our perception is the only way there can be growth. Dr. Buske was able to take the patient's thoughts and feelings and use it to open up a conversation. The patient felt acknowledged, and therefore no longer was looking to leave the practice.
