Perez Out, Maile Called Up | Kansas City Royals News

Salvador Perez is out with elbow soreness, forcing the Royals to call up Luke Maile to catch behind the plate—just as they’re already managing a brutal injury list that includes key hitters. Manager Matt Quatraro says Perez’s discomfort didn’t improve, and a deeper evaluation is coming after their off-day. Meanwhile, Cole Ragans is sidelined until next season after elbow surgery, and Kris Bubic’s return remains uncertain after a cortisone shot. Carter Jensen will handle most catching duties, while Maile, signed on a minor league deal, now locks in as the backup on the 40-man roster.
