Perez Ties Brett, Quatraro Absent | Kansas City Royals News

The Royals hit the road for a 10-game trip without manager Matt Quatraro, who’s sidelined for personal reasons—Paul Hoover steps in as acting skipper while Vance Wilson moves to bench coach and Jose Alguacil takes over third base. The team’s riding high after a 5-1 homestand, capped by a thrilling 5-4 win over the Giants where Salvador Perez hit his 317th homer, tying George Brett for most in franchise history. Perez’s chase for the record begins now, and fans are watching closely as Hoover leads the charge against the Tigers starting tonight at 5:40 PM Central.
