Perez’s Final Catching Chapter | Kansas City Royals News

Salvador Perez is navigating the twilight of his career with grit, adapting to an elbow injury that’s sidelined him as a catcher while he mentors younger talent like Carter Jensen. Despite catching just 44 games this season — his lowest since 2020 — Perez remains laser-focused on health and helping the Royals reach the playoffs. He’s embracing a potential part-time role next year, possibly splitting time between DH, first base, and catching, as he eyes a long-term legacy. Already the Royals’ all-time home run leader, Perez sees himself as a cornerstone for the team’s future, alongside rising stars like Bobby Witt Jr., and is determined to play as long as his body allows — not ready to call it quits yet.
