Perfect, Complete, Lacking Nothing EP. 212

from Excelling in Christ Hosted by Clarence Fell

Podcast Episode: Pressing On – The Journey to Spiritual Maturity Welcome to today’s episode, where we’re tackling a vitaltruth: conversion is the start of the journey, not the finish line. Too many believers stop at baptism. But Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 3:9-10 that he prayed night and day to help complete what was still lacking in their faith. He knew baptism wasn’t the end, it was just the enlistment. The Hebrew writer takes it a step further in Hebrews 5:13-14, warning that those who never move beyond spiritual “milk” remain unacquainted with the word of righteousness. In other words, if all you’ve got is the basics, you don’t truly know the deeper things of God. Spiritual growth requires practice, training our senses to distinguish between good and evil. It’s all training. Paul himself, after decades in the faith, still said in Philippians 3:12-14, “I press on… forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead.” He didn’t coast. He kept climbing. And that’s what we’re called to do. But let’s be honest, stagnation is easier. The churches of Sardis (Revelation 3:1-2) and Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-17) thought they had “arrived,” but Jesus called them dead and lukewarm. Satan isn’t afraid of a hurch full of spiritual infants. A believer who’s stuck in the milk stage isn’t a threat. So, where are you? If we want to move forward, we must take inventory. Like a traveler planning a route, we need to know where we stand before we can map out where we’re going. It’s not about comparison, it’s about progress. Stay tuned as we unpack practical steps to keep pressing on the upward way. The journey isn’t over, and the best is yet to come.
