Perfected In Love

Jesus prayed that we would know the Father loves us as He loves His Son. The cross established that love before we had anything to offer in return: Christ gave Himself to reconcile us to the Father. We can receive His love with confidence because our assurance rests in what He has done for us. The Holy Spirit has poured that love into our hearts so we can live from the nature of Christ. His Word brings light to the attitudes and reactions that need to change. Receiving His correction is part of growing in love; His mercy calls us out of sin and His Spirit empowers us to obey Him. Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. We can carry that assurance into our relationships through forgiveness, patience, and a willingness to seek another person’s good.
