Perfectionism vs. Preparation - Ashley

from What We Think About Us · host Grace Avery

Hello and welcome to What We Think About Us. This week we’re talking about perfectionism vs. preparation. When is preparation good and when is it actually perfectionism in disguise, keeping you from doing something, keeping you from taking a leap? The idea of finding the balance between these two things and just knowing when to prep and when to jump has been on my mind a lot lately so it was really great to get to ask Ashley, our guest this week, what her thoughts and insights about this are. Ashley is an actress, comedian and entrepreneur. She has a new YouTube show that we talk about during the interview. It’s called "It Takes a Universe." Her mission with it is to interview diverse artists and additionally to help up and coming artists, which is really cool. In our conversation, Ashley goes over what her preparation process was for creating "It Takes a Universe" and also her process/mindset shift of letting go of perfectionism with it. We also talk about her journey with perfectionism while growing up, what it’s like to work with people who aren’t prepared at all and how she’s consistently evaluating whether she’s in prep mode or perfectionism mode. It felt like a very rich conversation and I appreciated her openness!Support the show✨ For WWTAU updates check out @wwtaupodcast on Instagram.NOTE: The goal of this podcast is to hear many different perspectives. Viewpoints shared by guests are not necessarily shared by the host, and vice versus. Hate speech will not be permitted. Feedback is welcome if something said causes hurt or offense. It's my hope that we can all learn and be better together!
