Perkins Finds His Pitch | Oakland Athletics News

Jack Perkins just had his breakout moment on the mound, tossing six innings on just 71 pitches while striking out eight batters — a first for him in 18 MLB starts. He made a bold mechanical tweak, shifting his setup to the left side of the mound, giving his pitches more room to work and helping him dominate hitters with improved command. Despite giving up four runs last time out, he walked none — a huge step from his earlier control struggles. Against Tampa Bay, his average exit velocity hit 89.1 mph, proving he’s generating weak contact. Perkins believes these last two outings show the pitcher he can be, and with two starts left, he’s got a chance to cement his future role — starter or reliever — by finishing strong and proving there’s still something to play for this season.
