Permeated with Light - Fr. Micah - April 26, 2020

from Holy Trinity + Holy Cross - Sermons · host Holy Trinity + Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral

Today is the first Sunday following Pascha and commonly known as Thomas Sunday in the Orthodox Church. Father Micah shares with us that the Gospel reading taken from John 20:19-31 is not only read today, but at various times during the year as one of the eleven Orthros or Matins Gospel readings. These Orthros Gospels are some of the Church's most important readings because they are permeated with the light of the Risen One. Each of these Gospel accounts reveal to us the Resurrected Christ, His Kingdom and the mysteries of the faith. Within these eleven Gospel readings lies the answer to every question and they teach us that every day and certainly the first day of each week we should offer our very lives to Christ. Finally, Father Micah reminds us that even though we are behind closed doors during this pandemic, Our Risen Lord is with us having the marks of His Love in His hands and side.
