Persistent Fire at ECCO Recycling | Calgary News

A stubborn fire at ECCO Recycling in southeast Calgary has been smoldering since Sunday, sending plumes of smoke over neighborhoods and forcing firefighters back in after initial control. Flames reignited Monday, crews stayed overnight Tuesday, and hotspots flared Wednesday — all amid growing community concern. Officials say the blaze is contained to the site, but heavy equipment is now being used to manage debris. The mayor’s calling for accountability as investigators scramble to determine the cause — and residents are urged to only call 911 if the fire threatens buildings or spreads beyond property lines.
