In which we observe Anne’s compassionate renewal of a cherished acquaintance amidst the less glamorous quarters of Bath, revealing a friendship coloured by past kindness and present trials, while her family regards her choice with some disdain. Meanwhile, Lady Russell harbours hopes for Anne’s future with Mr Elliot, whose agreeable yet guarded nature provokes in Anne a tempered appraisal of his character and intentions.
