Peru and the political parties crisis (and democracy)

In Peru, presidents come and go, and scandals pile up—yet political parties remain fragile, improvised, and at times almost disposable. What happens to a democracy when parties cease to represent the people and become mere electoral vehicles—"parties for hire"? Today, on *Crónicas al Sur del Río Grande*, we travel to Lima to understand how this crisis of political parties came to be—and what it tells us about the future of Peruvian democracy.
