SVM-regeringens forslag til en ny PET-lov har vakt markant opsigt i forhold til, hvor meget de danske spionagenturers metoder normalvis diskuteres i den brede offentlighed. Særligt forslaget om at lade Politiets Efterretningstjeneste sammenkøre enorme mængder data fra offentlige registre, internetaktivitet, databrokere, lovlig politisk aktivitet og diverse samarbejdspartnere for at analysere det med AI har vakt furore. Thomas Birk Kristiansen, praktiserende læge og mangeårig aktiv stemme i debatten om sundhedsdata, mener, at PET dybest set vil være i stand til at lave genetisk profilering af hele den danske befolkning, hvis tjenesten får lov at analysere på baggrund af sundhedsdata, CPR-numre og slægtsforhold.
