Peter Hitchens on Anglican virtues, Japanese wisdom, lockdown lunacy, drug dopes & Venezuela
from The Corrigan Cast · host Brendan Corrigan
'The whole of the formerly Christian world is now living in the afterglow of Christianity but it doesn't last forever and what follows it will be, to me, quite alarming.' This is one of a number of concerns for the future of humanity the outspoken author and journalist Peter Hitchens shares with us. In a wide-ranging discussion, he also tells us how his rejoining of the Anglican Church was the perfect antidote to his years as a revolutionary socialist. As regards the imposition of lockdowns to control the spread of coronavirus, he says the evidence simply isn't there that they actually work. What's more, he argues that the costs of such measures are enormous across a whole range of areas. In relation to the illegal drug trade, he says the issue has to be tackled in the consumer countries but very few developed nations are properly doing this. Finally, he tells us that Venezuela's current problems are best solved by Venezuelans themselves. **** Watch a video version of this podcast at https://youtu.be/Nuzm8OkYMyE. **** Check out the Wrong Way Corrigan blog at https://wwcorrigan.blogspot.com/. **** Outro music: Master of the Feast by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1400019 Artist: http://incompetech.com/
