Peter Maher's Legacy Lives On | Calgary News

Calgary lost a true legend when Peter Maher, the voice of the Flames for 30 unforgettable years, passed away at 79. His iconic calls — “Yeah, baby!” and “You can put it in the win column!” — echoed through Stanley Cup triumphs and heartbreaks, becoming part of the city’s soul. At his vibrant celebration of life, former Flames stars like Gelinas and Kiprusoff honored him, revealing how his passion didn’t just broadcast games but connected fans to players as people. Beyond the rink, Maher bravely shared his Alzheimer’s journey to fight stigma, volunteered tirelessly, and left behind a legacy that lives on: the Peter Maher Broadcast Booth, an annual award honoring sincerity, and his place in both the Hockey Hall of Fame and New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame. His warmth, authenticity, and love for Calgary touched every fan — and will echo forever. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
