Schloß Schönbrunn - Les salles d’apparat à l’étage noble Schloß Schönbrunn Kultur- und Betriebsges.m.b.H. Au 17e siècle, les Habsbourg possédaient déjà ici un château d’agrément qui fut toutefois détruit en 1683 lors du deuxième siège de Vienne par les Turcs. Après la victoire sur les Ottomans, l’empereur Léopold Ier chargea alors le maître du baroque, l’architecte autrichien Fischer von Erlach, d’ériger un pavillon de chasse sur les ruines du château détruit. Un demi-siècle plus tard, Marie-Thérèse fit transformer Schönbrunn dans le style rococo par Nicolas Pacassi, architecte de la Cour et en fit sa résidence d’été officielle. C’est ici que Marie-Thérèse passait les mois d’été avec sa Cour qui, toujours est-il, ne comptait pas moins de 1500 personnes. La famille impériale contribua activement à l’aménagement intérieur du château qui témoigne aujourd’hui encore de la vie quotidienne des Habsbourg, de leurs habitudes et de l’histoire de Schönbrunn, restée bien vivante.
