Peter Tomasz on living in China and playing Chopin

Polish pianist and educator Peter (Piotr) Tomasz currently lives and works in Shanghai, where he teaches at a private music academy and occasionally performs at major venues across the city.On March 22nd, he appeared in recital alongside fellow pianist James Brawn at the Chamber Hall of the Shanghai Symphony Hall, performing a selection of his signature Chopin repertoire. The concert also marked the launch of Tomasz’s ambitious project: to perform and record the complete works of Frédéric Chopin within a condensed time frame.In this interview, Peter reflects on his musical upbringing in the small Polish town where he was born, his years studying on full scholarship at The Juilliard School, and the passion behind his Chopin project.
