Peter’s 15-Year FoodCycle Mission | London News
from London News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Meet Peter Bradley, 78, who’s been feeding London’s hungry—and fighting loneliness—for 15 years with FoodCycle. Every Saturday at Finsbury Park, he leads the charge turning surplus food into free, nourishing meals for those who need them most. Beyond the food, these community gatherings are a lifeline: 67% of guests say they can’t afford meals, and the same number often eat alone. After attending, 79% feel happier, 73% feel less lonely. Volunteers like Peter, who’s been with the charity since 2009, say it keeps them young and connected. Right now, FoodCycle needs 2,700 volunteers across London for July and August—no experience needed, flexible hours, full training. Last year, volunteers served 76,000 meals and saved 130 tonnes of food from landfills. If you’ve got a few hours, join them and help rebuild community—one meal at a time.
