This is the second sermon of our new study in the book of 1 Peter. Last week Pastor Kirk introduced the author, Peter. This week, Pastor Kirk introduces three main themes of Peter's writing. The Gospel and the church was spreading throughout Asia Minor as believers who converted were being persecuted in Jerusalem. Peter wrote to all the believers, Jew and Gentile, throughout Asia Minor. The New Testiment was not written in Hebrew to Jews, but was written in Greek. Peter challenged the new believers not to return back to following the Law, but to follow the commandments Jesus called them to as new citizens of heaven. Peter writes to the redeemed.
