Winnie Sabbat is a millennial Haitian woman living her best life in NYC. A finance director for a creative agency, Winnie got bit by the travel bug when her friends convinced her to travel to Mexico her senior year in college and she’s never looked back. In this episode, we talk about her migration story, overcoming cultural traditions of a woman traveling solo and her memoir about her journey.

As a child, Winnie often found herself daydreaming as she enjoyed the views of the island from her rooftop. Unbeknownst to her, these moments would fuel her obsession with travel, but it wasn’t until her college graduation trip to Mexico with a few close friends that the spark for world travel would ignite a flame in her.

Using her knowledge of making sound financial decisions and her love for adventure, Winnie embarked on a journey to share her experience with the world. Releasing her first memoir, Petit-a-Petit: One Woman’s Journey Across the Globe in Search of Happiness, Sabbat narrates how changing her worldview allowed her to shun her negative mindset and trust that happiness is her fate.

The first generation “Nuyorican” grew up in a musical family, influenced by everything from the sounds of ‘90s R&B and Hip Hop, to the classic bolero music his father would sing & play around the house. This musical upbringing led to a career as an in-demand session singer and live vocalist in New York, working with the likes of the Roots, Shawn Mendes, Lorde, Lisa Lisa and many others. His own music blends R&B, Funk & Hip-Hop with afro-latin rhythms in a style he refers to as “sancochofunk” (sancocho=stew or gumbo); infusing an often tongue-in-cheek lyrical approach with a highly percussive and magnetic stage show. More experiential than merely musical, these vibes are crafted to make you move something.BSKi’s la
