Petra's Story

Petra, 31, from Cambridge in the East of England, wanted to train as a nurse to serve her community's healthcare needs. Despite Cambridge being in one of the least deprived areas nationally, the NHS workforce crisis affects every corner of Britain. Health Education England's training budgets were constrained by Treasury spending limits that treated public investment as a cost to minimise rather than the means to get qualified nurses onto wards.
