from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand
A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to up to 18 years in New Jersey state prison for stabbing a man to death in Atlantic City. George Harrell, 36, had pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the June 2022 attack on Kentucky Avenue. The stabbing was caught on surveillance video, which investigators used to identify Harrell, who fled to Philadelphia. He was tracked down by U.S. marshals and arrested nearly two months later. While in prison awaiting trial, Harrell was part of a group that beat up a fellow inmate in June 2024 at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. He pleaded guilty to second-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and was sentenced to another five years in prison.
