Philanthropist Janet Klein has died. The Philadelphia native was 96 years old. Klein devoted decades to preserving local history through her work on the Fairmount Park and Philadelphia Historical Commissions. The Girls High and Penn grad also led the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. Janet and her husband, Lew Klein, who died in 2019, donated millions to Temple University, which named its College of Media and Communications after the couple. Dean David Boardman told the Inquirer that Janet Klein "was an inspirational community leader who inspired others through her generosity, her brilliance, and her warmth."
