Philemon: No Longer As A Slave, But As A Dear Brother — Paul's Most Personal Letter And The Gospel That Changes Everything

In this episode of Bible Chapter by Chapter, we walk verse by verse through Paul's Letter to Philemon — the shortest letter in the New Testament, twenty-five verses long, written from a prison cell to a wealthy believer about a runaway slave named Onesimus who has become a Christian.Paul does not command Philemon. Though he has all boldness in Christ to command what is appropriate — he begs. For love's sake. As Paul the aged. As a prisoner of Jesus Christ. And what he begs for is not merely lenient treatment of a runaway. He asks Philemon to receive Onesimus no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, as a beloved brother — both in the flesh and in the Lord.We work through five movements.
