Philippians Bible Study Part 4

In this sermon, the central theme revolves around Philippians 1:9-11, where believers are exhorted for their love to abound 'yet more and more in knowledge and all judgment.' This message emphasizes that true, godly love is not merely an emotion or feeling, but rather is firmly rooted in the precise and correct understanding of God's Word. It is a love that is built upon ethical principles and divine truth, guiding our interactions and responses in every aspect of life. This message explores the critical difference between human feelings and divine truth, urging listeners to seek God's direction in their daily decisions concerning family, marriage, and career. It highlights that the foundation of godly wisdom is the fear of the Lord, necessitating a life lived in dependence upon God and obedience to His will. The sermon underscores that discerning right from wrong and understanding spiritual truths requires the active teaching of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God, contrasting this with the inability of the natural man to comprehend divine matters. Ultimately, the sermon calls believers to approve things that are excellent by testing and examining them against the immutable truth of God's Word, rather than subjective emotions or worldly perspectives. It encourages a life of constant spiritual growth and discernment, ensuring that actions and worship are acceptable and perfect in God's sight. This wisdom enables believers to distinguish genuine faith from mere sincerity, guiding them to remain faithful to truth even when it may be unpopular or challenging.
