At home this season, Painter has been filthy — allowing just 2 earned runs over 10⅓ innings pitched (1.76 ERA). He's not the problem. He's the future. But can this team really afford to lean on a rookie this heavily? 😬 Jesús Luzardo — The expectations were high for Luzardo as one of the rotation's key pieces, but his 6.23 ERA through 16.1 innings has been a major concern. He's given up 12 earned runs and hasn't been able to get deep enough into games, forcing the bullpen to carry a heavy workload. When Luzardo is off, this team has no margin for error. 😤 THE OFFENSE: WHERE ARE THE RUNS? Even when the pitching gives this team a chance, the lineup keeps going cold at the wrong time. Three straight games against Arizona, the Phillies scored ALL of their runs in a single inning each game. Bryce Harper has been scorching — hitting safely in 6 straight games and carrying this lineup — but he can't do it alone.
