Phillies On Fire, Painter Shines | St. Louis News

The Phillies are on fire, riding an eight-game win streak after a dominant victory over the Cardinals, led by Kyle Schwarber’s 38th home run and a flawless team effort where every starter had multiple hits. Bryce Harper added a three-run blast, while rookie Andrew Painter turned heads with seven strong innings, eight strikeouts, and just one run allowed — a huge rebound from his demotion. The Cardinals’ shaky pitching, highlighted by prospect Quinn Mathews’ rough outing (7 ER), couldn’t keep up as JJ Wetherholt’s solo homer was the lone bright spot. With Cristopher Sánchez set to face Kyle Leahy in the finale, this Phillies squad is proving they’re a force to be reckoned with — and their pitching resurgence could be the key to staying hot as the season winds down.
