PHILLIES POSTCAST: Aaron Nola gives up 3 HRs as Philadelphia Phillies fall to New York Mets, 4-1
from Locked On Phillies - Daily Podcast On The Philadelphia Phillies · host Locked On Podcast Network
The Philadelphia Phillies lose to the New York Mets, 4-1 as the Phillies bats muster just four hits and Nola gives up three long-balls! Aaron Nola got through six innings allowing just one run. It came on a solo homer by Francisco Alvarez in the 3rd. Then he got some help from Bryce Harper in the 5th with no outs. Harper snagged a line drive destined for the right field corner, but Harper corralled it, and stepped on first to double off Alvarez. Nola would record the third out of the inning with the bases loaded by getting Bo Bichette to fly out to center. Despite Nola being at 90 pitches, on a night with AWFUL air quality due to the Canadian Wildfires, Don Mattingly sent the righty back to the mound for the 7th inning and the Mets made him pay. Brett Baty and Alvarez took him deep for back-to-back homers to start off the inning. The only Phillies' run came by way of a Trea Turner homer in the 8th. Kyle Schwarber JUST missed his 33rd homer of the season on a ball that hit off the top of the railing in right field. A fan in the front row, who had a glove and FAILED to make the catch, or even an attempt for that matter! Schwarber settled for a double.
