Phillies Spring Training Needs To Get Here! (PST Show #346)

from The Philadelphia Sports Table | Philly Sports News & Views · host The Philadelphia Sports Table

Phillies Spring Training needs to get here - and it needs to get here soon! While pitchers and catchers report in less than a month to Clearwater, there's still time to dissect what to make of the Phillies offseason and how it will impact this team and organization for the coming 2020 season. Joining us this week to discuss it more is John Stolnis, writer and contributor at TheGoodPhight.com and host of the Hittin' Season podcast. We dove into tons of Phillies talk this week! But first, who do we think - and want - to win the Super Bowl? Chiefs or 49'ers? (approx. 3:45)From there, we talked about how the talk in Sixers Nation of trading Ben Simmons needs to stop, and Ray Didinger recent said the Sixers may not make it to the postseason. (approx. 9:25)We then got into the mascot who apparently has become a menace to society. Gritty allegedly punched a 13-year old kid. Aside from that storyline, we also discussed how this Flyers team is looking pretty good at the moment. (approx. 21:05)This week on the Highbrow Segment, we gave our thoughts on how NCAA men's basketball has been trending this season. Are we enthusiastic for March Madness, and where is this collegiate sport heading? (approx. 33:05)Then on our Lowbrow Segment, gave one under-the-rader player in Philly sports history that a team got rid of, but should have kept because that player might have propelled the team to greater success. (approx. 42:35)What we're throwing down on the Table this week is an in-depth interview with John Stolnis from The Good Phight as Phillies Spring Training is right around the corner. First, we discussed the Phillies spending philosophy during this offseason. We also reflected on Matt Klentak's tenure as GM over the past four seasons. From there, it was bullpen talk. What should Adam Haseley's expectations be for this coming season in centerfield, and should we also be concerned about third-base? All of this and much more this week on the Table! (approx. 49:15)
